Spitak Areni

Spitak Areni (“white Areni”) is a separate white variety, not a colour mutation of Areni: DNA markers show it to be a cross of Tozot and Areni. VIVC also records it as Spitak Malahi and Artabuynki Spitak. Long considered lost, it was identified again through genetic research, and Maran made the first wine from it, an amber wine macerated for months in karas.
