Tozot
Tozot is a late-ripening black grape found mainly in the old vineyards of Vayots Dzor; its name, meaning “dusty”, refers to the heavy bloom on the berries. The berries are medium-sized, slightly elongated and black, in dense conical bunches. Because it is scarce, it is used mostly in blends, especially with Areni. VIVC lists it under the prime name Alurdreni and, on DNA-marker evidence, as a parent of Spitak Areni.
