About the variety
Cabernet Sauvignon is a French red variety; DNA data recorded in VIVC show it to be a cross of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. In Armenia it is used mostly in blends with Areni: Armenia Wine adds Merlot in Tariri Red, while Trinity Canyon Vineyards, whose vineyard lies at 1,300 m in Vayots Dzor, pairs it with Areni in Crossroads Red Reserve and adds Syrah in Crossroads Rosé. It also goes into Armenia Wine’s organic Takar Red.
