Kangun

Kangun is a white grape bred in Armenia: VIVC records it as a 1979 cross of Sukholimansky White and Rkatsiteli made by P. K. Aivazyan at the Armenian research institute of viticulture, winemaking and fruit growing. It ripens late, with yellow-green berries tinged brown, and is now one of the most widely planted varieties in the country. It goes into still and sparkling wines and Armenian brandy, and is often blended with Viognier or Colombard.
