Karas Wines
A large estate in the Arevadasht community of Armavir, created by the Argentine-Armenian Eurnekian family — Eduardo Eurnekian and his niece Juliana Del Aguila Eurnekian, who had spent over a decade making wine in Patagonia. The vineyards sit on black volcanic soils below Mount Ararat and combine indigenous Armenian grapes with international varieties. Gabriel Rogel of Argentina is chief winemaker, with Michel Rolland consulting. Individual bottlings run as high as a million bottles a year.
