Armavir

Armenia's largest wine region by planted area: about 6,792 ha in 2017, twice the next one. Vineyards sit at 900–1,100 m on brown semi-desert soils, with about 165 mm of rain during the growing season. Kangun, Garan Dmak, Mskhali and Haghtanak dominate; historically this is the base of Armenian brandy and white wine, and international varieties arrived only recently.
