Voskeni

Winery with own productionInferred from indirect evidence

A family estate at Sardarapat, in Araks village, Armavir province, in the Ararat Valley. Its story goes back to great-grandfather Smbat Mateossian, who returned from Boston to Armenia in the 1920s to make wine but lost his land and his life under the Bolsheviks; nearly a century later his descendants came back from Russia and bought the family vineyards back. Indigenous varieties are worked — Voskehat, Areni, Kakheti and Haghtanak. The winery has a restaurant and a tasting room looking out at Mount Ararat.
