Voskevaz

A winery in the Aragatsotn village of the same name, dating its history to 1932 and described as the oldest still-operating winery in Armenia; the village name means 'golden bunch'. In the Soviet period the plant specialised in fortified wines and was among the republic's leading producers; the combine was privatised in 2004. It holds no vineyards of its own, working instead under contract with growers in several regions. Its Karasi Collection ferments in traditional clay karas vessels before ageing in oak.
